Eluanata Mini-Grid – Kajiado Central
In Kajiado Central, many families once relied on kerosene lamps and firewood, limiting education, healthcare, and business opportunities. SouthCreek’s Eluanata Mini-Grid is changing that reality by delivering clean, affordable, and reliable solar energy to the community.
In Kajiado Central, many families once relied on kerosene lamps and firewood, limiting education, healthcare, and business opportunities. SouthCreek’s Eluanata Mini-Grid is changing that reality by delivering clean, affordable, and reliable solar energy to the community.
The project combines a 190 kWp solar PV system with 0.55 MWh of battery storage, creating dependable power for more than 500 households, schools, a health clinic, water points, and local businesses. With access to electricity, families now enjoy safe lighting, children can study after dark, and clinics can store vaccines and run equipment reliably. Local businesses are thriving with refrigeration, phone charging, and longer operating hours.
Beyond immediate benefits, the project also reduces kerosene use, cuts carbon emissions, and protects local forests — creating a healthier environment for future generations.

The success of the Eluanata Mini-Grid proves that solar mini-grids can sustainably power rural communities. SouthCreek is working to replicate this model across other wards in Kajiado and beyond, building a cleaner, brighter energy future for Kenya.
